Megan Kearney

Editorial Manager of Planning (She/Her)

I’m Megan Kearney, The 19th’s editorial manager of planning, focused on the strategy of getting all of the behind-the-scenes ducks in rows and to our readers. I specialize in SEO, production, and, you guessed it: planning. I work on the promotion of the stories you’re reading every day and the keywords you’re searching to find them, but my interests are rooted in centering your voices, earning your trust and turning the stories you’re reading into uniquely digital experiences.

I started my journalism career in 2017 after graduating from the University of Florida. I quickly fell in love with the fast-paced chaos of news and never looked back. Before landing at The 19th, I spent four years with Gannett working in production and planning roles in Southwest Florida and on the USA TODAY Network’s Digital Optimization Team.

Outside of The 19th, I’m passionate about mentorship and leadership. I’ve participated in Poynter’s Lead with Influence and Emerging Leaders programs and serve as a career coach and an adjunct lecturer for audience engagement at my alma mater. (Go Gators!)

My work is free to consume and free to republish because of contributions from readers like you. A donation of $19 goes a long way toward sustaining our nonprofit newsroom.
