In our ongoing series 19 Minutes with The 19th, we want to give you, our audience, the opportunity to ask our reporters questions about their work and the issues facing communities across the country. Last month I talked to our economy reporter, Chabeli Carrazana, about America’s first female recession. Watch it here.

Episode three will premiere live Friday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. CT. We’ll talk to Kate Sosin, The 19th’s LGBTQ+ reporter. Sosin has been closely covering the intersection of politics, policy and the LGBTQ+ community. As we approach the 2020 Election, their latest reporting has focused on how a more conservative Supreme Court could bring drastic changes to LGBTQ+ Americans and how presidential town halls have neglected to represent issues important to the community.

It’s been five years since the Supreme Court declared same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states — a ruling that brought hope to LGBTQ+ people and activists. But how are current politics and policy impacting this community in 2020? Do they still have hope? What could the next four years possibly look like? Sosin will discuss these issues surrounding the LGBTQ+ community and more during our 19-minute conversation.

The 19th thanks our sponsors. Become one.

Have a question for Sosin? Email me at shenderson@19thnews.org or tweet me using the hashtag #19MinutesWithThe19th.

Sosin will also be moderating a panel discussion on Oct. 5 about what’s at stake for LGBTQ+ voters in November. Learn more and register for this Live with The 19th event here.
