Texas’ new law banning abortions after six weeks of pregnancy is swiftly impacting politics, policy and people — not just in that state alone, but across the country. At The 19th, we understand that you, our readers, may have questions or experiences you’d like to share related to what is happening in Texas right now. That’s why we’re encouraging you to tell us how this law is impacting you and your community.

The law, which is the strictest abortion ban in the country, is shaping the final weeks of a historic lieutenant governor’s race in Virginia, prompting Texas-based patients to travel hundreds of miles for abortion access, potentially leaving LGBTQ+ people with limited health care options, and raising questions about the future of Roe v. Wade. Those are just a few of the ramifications we’ve seen so far. And with the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision not to block the law, policy analysts expect to see similar legislation in other Republican-led states.

Whether you are a resident of Texas or a different state, our reporters are here to listen to your personal experiences, or what you are witnessing in your communities, as abortion access becomes increasingly limited.

The 19th thanks our sponsors. Become one.

Are you planning to travel out of state to receive care? Do you work at a health care clinic that has seen an increase of Texas-based patients? Are you caring for someone who has been affected? Are you advocating for reproductive health rights in your community?

The 19th wants to listen to you and give you a platform to share your stories and use them in our reporting. Please know that any information you provide to us will not be used without a reporter speaking with you first. Reporters will discuss with any potential sources the level of disclosure they are comfortable with before publishing.
