Lance Dixon

Audience Producer (He/Him)

Hey there, I’m Lance Dixon, one of the audience producers at The 19th. I help produce a lot of what you see on our social platforms. I also work on some of our newsletters, and am behind much of our Reddit presence and strategy. (Yes, I am Very Online).

My journalism career started back in 2013 at my hometown paper, the Miami Herald, where I covered local government and general news. After that, I became more interested in how my work could engage audiences. I was a director and storytelling producer at The New Tropic, and later a digital editor at WLRN News.

I’m a proud HBCU grad from Morehouse College and also an alum of Columbia University’s journalism school. I still live in my hometown of Miami where I’m often found writing and sharing poetry, at a bar trivia night,  a concert, cheering on the Miami Heat or literally escaping the heat at a museum or record store.

My work is free to consume and free to republish because of contributions from readers like you. A donation of $19 goes a long way toward sustaining our nonprofit newsroom.
